Industrial Development

The Taylorville Industrial Development Corporation Industrial Park Complex consists of 232 acres located at the southwest edge of Taylorville, at the present time there are approximately 150 acres available for building purposes and all sites are fully services with roads, sewers, water, gas and electricity.  Building sites range in size from 5 to 50 + acres and all have desirable dimension characteristics and location.

In addition to sites being available in the Industrial Park, the Local Business Development Incentive Package includes substantial financial benefits provided by the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act, varied financing programs (purchase, lease or lease/purchase options), a skilled labor force and a Technical Training Center with a wide range of programs and services.  Also, a modern state of the art Airport capable of handling corporate jet aircraft is located adjacent to the Industrial Park.


Building

Any steel frame Industrial building needed will be custom designed and engineered to meet the required needs and specifications.  The Taylorville Industrial Development Corporation has access to and has worked with various suppliers and erectors so competitive bids and prices are readily available.  This factor, coupled with the availability of excellent building sites and the benefits of the Enterprise Zone, enables us to construct a new building in Taylorville as economically as possible.

In a Quality of Labor Survey report issued by the East-Central Illinois Development Corporation the findings indicate that the labor force in this area demonstrates a high product quality, high productivity, high reliability and low absenteeism.  The workers display a friendly attitude, possess a good work ethic, are honest and exhibit a spirit of cooperation.

The population with in a 30 mile radios of Taylorville, which is located in the center of Christian County there is 354,164.  Of that 50% are between the ages of 18 to 54 years of age.  In that area the rural population, those not living in any of the cities, towns, or villages is 17,329, of which 50% are in the 18 to 54 age range.

The Assessed Value (EAV) represents 1/3 of the market value.  Thus for a $1,080,000 building, with an EAV of $360,000.00 the Real Estate Tax savings will be:

Manufacturing & Business Activity In The Area

Ahlstrom Filtration is a multi-million dollar international filtration company, which has recently moved into Taylorville and invested over 60 million dollars into their enterprise zone plant operation.  (Ahlstrom had 1500 applicants for their initial workforce of sixty employees.)

Macon Metal Products, which occupies a 90,000 square foot building in the enterprise Zone.  It manufactures Trimax body building equipment and does sub-contract custom metal fabrication work for various large manufacturers (Caterpillar, Komatsu, Lear, etc.).  They can be contacted at (217) 824-7205 relative to the various reasons and benefits associated with the move to Taylorville.

Botkin Lumber Company has recently built a large (43,560 sq. foot) attractive building in the Industrial Park and is enjoying the benefits of the enterprise zone.

Marketing Alternatives Inc. relocated their ÎBack Office Customer Service Facilityâ to Taylorville, opening for business on January 2, 2001, 106 days after initial contact.  Their client include Loweâs, Wilsonart International and Sara Lee Coffee and Teas. Transportation

Taylorville is located within 27 miles (30 minutes) of Interstate 55 and 72 with good roads connecting to both.  Several interstate truck lines as well as regional carriers serve the community regularly.  Illinois Route 29, which connects us with Interstate 55, is scheduled for four lane service by the end of 2006.

Truck Lines presently serving Taylorville include ABF, Carolina, Preston, CCX, Brandt and Yellow Motor Freight.  Product shipping rates are set for the shipper based upon commodity and weight classifications.

The Taylorville Municipal Airport is located adjacent to the Industrial Park and it is capable of handling corporate aircraft.  Additionally, commercial airline services are available at the Springfield and Decatur airports, both within 30 miles of Taylorville.

The Norfolk and Southern railroad is the mainline service to the community with the Genessee and Wyoming (formerly C&IM) serving the north part of the Industrial Park.
