EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
The mission of the Taylorville Police Department Emergency Response Team is to perform those operations which require specialized training and equipment. Those operations include: high risk arrest warrants, search warrants, suicidal persons, hostage situations, barricaded suspects and any other operations the Chief of Police deems necessary. The team provides a readily available unit that can be called on during any city emergency.
The team presently has 10 members. The members have to pass a yearly physical ability test and a higher standard of marksmanship. All members receive special training that is continuous throughout the year. Two of the members currently also serve on Region 6 and 7 Weapons of Mass Destruction Special Response Team.
