What Makes Christian County Unique
This area is known for itsâ excellent work force. One that evolved from agricultural and mining back grounds to fueled local business and industry. They survived the depression, change the business climate, plant and coal mine closings. But they have stayed and found other jobs and carriers. They seek better education and lives for their children. Taylorville scholarship foundation has over $250,000.00 available in scholarships to graduating senior each year. Christian County is an area where people step up to the challenges of life and community. The citizenâs figure out what needs to be done when faced problems, then commit to do them. They do not wait for government to solve their problems; they solve them on their own. When the YMCA needed to expand itsâ facility, the community set out to raise the $2.3 million dollars on their own and now the expansion is on the way. The same way the capital improvements dollars were and are raised for our local Hospital. People here care for their fellow citizens. You see it in the service clubs, the senior center, the volunteer food pantry, the hospital volunteer staff and many other quality of life things that people do for others that can not do for themselves.
