The Taylorville Park
District provides facilities and programs for residents of the
District, which encompasses the City of Taylorville as well as areas
surrounding the city. There are four park sites within the Taylorville
City limits; Manners Park, Jaynes Park, Taylorville High School
softball diamond, and the Lake Shore Golf Course, an 18-hole
championship facility that is located at Lake Taylorville. Residents
elect a six-member board and Board President to four- year terms to
govern the District, which is a separate governmental body.

Manners Park: A 62 acre
tract is just four blocks south of the Taylorville Square. The park
has one seven-acre lake that offers great fishing, waterfowl, and
natural areas. There are also 5 playground areas for youngsters, a
large Chautauqua building that was placed on the National Historic
Site
list in 1988, and one other large shelter ö perfect for family
reunions or large picnics. Four baseball fields (one lighted),
basketball and tennis courts, one outdoor Olympic size swimming pool,
and a community building are all in Manners Park. The Park District
Administration Building is also located here.
Jaynes Park: An 11.4 acre
area located on the west side of Taylorville. The park has three
baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and playground.
Bragg Athletic Complex: Two
adult softball fields (one lighted), youth football/soccer area, a
popular paved walking trail, and concession-restroom facility are
included in this 10- acre site.
Taylorville High School Softball Field:
The Park District has leased in
cooperation with the Taylorville School District for a 9- acre
community park area. This includes playground equipment and lighted
softball field. |

Programs:
The Park District is expanding the
programs offered to residents of all ages in the area. Youth programs
include an After-school Program, Flag Football, The Park Singers,
Craft Classes, Daddy Daughter Date Night, Camp Out, Pool Activities,
Scavenger Hunt, Hayrack Rides, and First Aid Classes. Youth baseball
and softball leagues are offered through local parent organizations
using park facilities. Other activities available include Adult
Softball Leagues, Basketball Leagues, Concerts in the Park, and more.

Residents 55 years
of age and over are invited to the monthly programs held at Manners
Park. Luncheons, desserts, entertaining programs, and the ever-popular
bingo games make for a fun afternoon out.
The Kids R Kids program provides
recreation programs for physically or mentally challenged individuals.
Taylorville is Christmas!
Get in the Christmas spirit each year by
visiting Manners Park. Over 100 lighted displays and many activities
at the community building make young and old alike ready for the
Holidays.
